Review: ‘The Personal MBA’

The Personal MBA by Josh Kaufman

I was dreading this book, and I honestly don’t know why. Maybe the 400 pages scared me; I don’t know, but I could have used this book when it came out in 2010. The premise of this book is that it is another path towards achieving an MBA without actually spending the $200k+ on schooling. It’s an ambitious premise, but it delivers – at least from my perspective. And quite frankly, that’s what matters to me. This book breaks down the various components of creating and sustaining a business. It also does a fantastic job of bringing in other research and books if you want to dive deeper.

Without a doubt, this book, along with Leadership and Self Deception by the Arbinger Institute and Thanks for the Feedback by Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen, is one that I will read regularly.
