Why Movember Matters?
For three years now, I have been participating in Movember. In case you don’t know, Movember – it’s an organization that co-opts the Month of November to promote awareness around Men’s Health issues.
For three years, I shave my beard on October 31st and grow just the weakest mustache known to man. Like, seriously weak. There are pencil mustaches that have more man-points than my weak attempt of monthly growth.
I support Movember because I come from a family of cancer. My father is a survivor of both prostate and testicular cancer. My mom is a survivor of breast cancer. And so every year, I do what I can to help get the message out about the necessity to be proactive around finding these cancers early.
This year is a little different; in addition to collecting donations for Movember – I also matched with a donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
It’s November 2nd, and I’ve already collected $1200 for both Men’s Health Issues and Breast Cancer research. I consider that to be something that matters.
To support my Movember efforts – thank you and here is my page where you can donate.
